What Makes a WWE Action Figure a Collectible

by Abraham Natanzadeh on April 17, 2023

What Makes a WWE Action Figure a Collectible?

Wrestling is still extremely popular around the world. But what you don’t realize is that this sport has been even more popular between the 1980s and 1990s. That period is basically the golden age of wrestling. But the wrestlers who were popular back then were selling memorabilia and collectibles (such as action figures, clothes and accessories) for a fraction of the price they are worth today. Why? It’s simply because peoples’ nostalgia has been increasing ever since.

Of course, some WWE action figures are worth a lot more than others. But how much can they be worth? Will they increase their value even more? Which action figures can be considered collectibles? Let’s find out! In this blog post, we will talk about what makes a WWE action figure a collectible.

How Expensive Can Action Figures Get?

You are probably wondering just how much money people can get for their WWE action figures. We’ve done our homework and were pretty impressed ourselves. It’s clear that they prices have been increasing over the last couple of years. For instance, a MOC WWF LJN 1989 Brutus ”The Barber” Beefcake Wrestling Figure (Rare Black Card) has a starting price of $25,000 (auctioned on eBay).

Another interesting find is a Kamala action figure with a moon on the belly. It’s a very rare item. It has been estimated that there are at most 24 of these action figures in existence today. The price of one ranges from $5,000 to $10,000 on various auction websites.

The third interesting action figure we’ve found is a Macho Man Randy Savage. Most people don’t even know this one exists. There were relatively few produced and only a few of them are still known to exist today. If you own one, you can expect to get anywhere from $2,000 to $5,000 for it (depending on the condition of the action figure, as well as the condition of its box).

A Word About Authentication And Fake Action Figures

Before we talk about what makes a WWE action figure a collectible, we should first talk about authentication. The prices for some of these action figures can be quite high, so there are many fakes out there. This is why it is important to buy only WWE action figures that have been authenticated by a reputable company such as JSA, PSA or Beckett. The serial number on the tag should match the serial number on the Certificate of Authenticity.

So, What Makes a WWE Action Figure a Collectible?

Now, what makes a WWE action figure a collectible? Truth be told, there are many things that can make it a collectible, including your taste. If you love the Undertaker, you may consider its action figure to be a collectible. But can you sell it as a collectible? Probably not.

Collectible items are usually those that are special in some way. An obvious example is the number of items that have been sold. If the company didn’t sell too many of them, there is a good chance that only a small number are still in existence today. This, however, applies to action figures that have been sold many years ago (usually between 1980 and 2000).

Another thing that makes a WWE action figure a collectible is its condition and the condition of the original packaging. Ideally, the item and the packaging should be in pristine condition.

Finally, another thing that makes an item a collectible and greatly increases its value is authentication or grading. An authenticated and graded item is more valuable because collectors know they’re not fakes. However, AFA grading can cost the collector quite a bit of money.
